our team
Meet a few of our team members!
All Time for a Walk® employees take great pride in providing our clients' pets with first class care. Listed below is information about just a few of the dedicated professional dog walkers and pet sitters at your service.
Christina Keough, Owner
Christina is one of the DC area's few true natives, having been born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. A veteran sales and marketing professional with a passion for animals of all kinds, in 2005 Christina decided to leave the sales world and started working for a non-profit organization in the field of pet assisted therapy. In early 2007 after repeated frustration with the absence of quality, affordable pet care in Arlington, Virginia, Christina and her husband, Jonathan, founded Time for a Walk®. Christina’s passion for animals is equally matched by her determination to provide pet owners in Arlington, Alexandria City, Falls Church City and select areas of McLean with excellent services at affordable prices.
Over the course of their respective childhoods, Christina and Jonathan have had the pleasure of welcoming a variety of pets into their homes including: dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, mice, hedgehogs, fish, rabbits, frogs, salamanders, turtles, snakes, parakeets, and even a duck and a monkey!
When Christina isn't running the business or meeting with new clients, she keeps busy enjoying her family and traveling. She is currently serving as the President of the Northern Virginia Professional Pet Sitters Network and has served as the Network's Vice President for two years.
Christina currently resides in Arlington with her husband, three children, three dogs, and two cats.
Kelly S., General Manager of Operations
Having always been an animal lover, I went to school for Animal Science at Virginia Tech, where I adopted my dog Lexie and spent my free time volunteering at the VA/MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine walking dogs housed on campus. After college, Lexie and I spent a summer working on a horse farm before returning to Arlington. During internships with the Farm Animal Welfare Dept for the Humane Society of the US and Membership/Marketing for the Jane Goodall Institute, I became a mid-day walker for Time for a Walk® and learned the ins-and-outs of pet-sitting. Lexie and I are now in the Time for a Walk® office full-time, scheduling and managing care for your pets!
Meghan C., Client Relations Specialist
(Temporarily working remotely on Pacific Standard Time)
I was born and raised in Arlington, VA where I live with my boyfriend and two dogs, Elizabeth-Taylor (Blonde Pomeranian) & Dutch-Arnold (White Boxer). Growing up my family always had at least two dogs and array of other small pets, like a cat, hamsters, and fish. I went to Yorktown High School and then on to West Virginia University. In the summer of 2011 I became a Mid-day Dog Walker at Time for a Walk®: and that fall I started working in the office as an Administrative Assistant, at the beginning of 2012 I became our Client Relations Specialist, and for the end of 2012 through early 2013 I temporarily relocated to Las Vegas, NV and continue to work for Time for a Walk® remotely.
I am an extroverted people person, which makes my position, as Client Relations Specialist, very enjoyable. I get to meet with new clients during in-home consultations (well, not while working remotely), answer any questions clients have regarding our policies, procedures, pricing, contracts, billing, etc. I am also the go-to person regarding any concerns or special needs our clients have (human and pet alike). I host the Time for a Walk® table at many community events throughout the area, including yappy-hours and doggie swims. If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me… you are sure to get a perky, up-beat response because (as cheesy as it sounds) I love animals, people, this company, and my job!
Carolina R., Administrative Assistant & Pet Sitter
I’m a Northern Virginia native who has constantly shared her house with cats but has always secretly wanted a dog. There’s Shortcake, whom I’ve raised since she was a kitten over 18 years ago, she’s the queen of the house. Then there’s Ben & Jerry, two sweet and mischievous tabby cat brothers I found wandering the street in 2010. Anyone who has ever had a cat will tell you, you don’t really own them, it’s more the other way around. Because I didn’t have a dog of my own when I started working for Time for a Walk®, taking care of other people’s dogs was a perfect fit for me. All this experience has paid off when I finally found my perfect dog, a handsome shelter dog I named River. You may see him napping in his bed behind my desk in the office.
I started off as a part time dog walker and pet sitter about 2 years ago and now I’m a full time member of the Time for a Walk® office support team and a part time pet sitter. I’ve got the best of both worlds! While I do miss my regular dog walking route (and getting paid to exercise), it is a great opportunity to work in the office to support the needs of our clients and our employees. And I still get to spend time with clients’ pets when I’m not working in the office. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading literature and writing fiction and watching some good British television.
Erica P., Substitute Walker
I recently graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Biology. My house has been full of animals ever since I can remember. We currently have two Dachshunds with two very different personalities — Betty and Lucy — and a rambunctious mutt we rescued from a shelter in North Carolina — Lloyd. Currently I volunteer as a keeper aide at the Ape House in the National Zoo — it’s really great to spend time with the apes and to learn all their unique personalities! I recently spent some time travelling around Kenya for an ecology course, and that experience has definitely solidified my passion to become a Conservation Biologist. My future goals include enrolling in a graduate program, and to get some more travelling done in between!
Andy C., Midday Dog Walker
I was raised in a household full of many sundry dogs and cats and have lived in the DC area for most of my life. Currently, I am the co-owner and operator of a graphic design studio located in Arlington. Being a Time for a Walk® associate affords me the opportunity to get out of the stuffy office for a few hours a day and commune with nature while entertaining some canine chums. One hopes the dogs' owners are also entertained by the notoriously bad spellings in my end-of-visit notes. I get as much enjoyment out of short leisurely strolls with nose-to-the-ground dogs as I do longer speed walks with dogs who are more curious about what's up ahead. My hobbies include year-round running in all varieties of weather, and playing music. I am also the owner of a large cat named Blackie.
Kristen S., Midday Dog Walker
Hi y'all! Am currently owned by my two lovely ladies, Lily, a Vizsla breed, and Lane, a greyhound mix. As with all other Time for a Walk® employees, I have a variety of experiences with owning and loving all kinds of animals. And yes, that includes amphibians and arachnids! I do have a special place in my heart for the larger size breeds (Mastiffs, Great Danes, Rottweilers, etc.) I'm thrilled to be part of the Time for a Walk® team because it is filled with caring and wonderful people! I'm currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree from Gallaudet University.
Meg K., Pet Sitter
I have lived my whole life in Arlington, which I think is one of the best places to be an animal lover. I spent my childhood with our tuxedo cat Patch-Patch, and our dog Maisy, who, based on her love of herding my friends and me around the yard and trying to nip at our heels, was a herding breed and Golden Retriever mix. I have always felt that we couldn’t have asked for a better dog, and I know that each client feels the same way about their own pet. In recent years I have adopted my calico cat, Scarlett, and helped care for my parents’ cats Sammy and Elfie, all of whom were from Homeward Trails Rescue. One of the most rewarding aspects of pet care for me is getting to know and love the unique breeds, mixes, and personalities of each pet. I love getting to meet new pets.
I am a senior at George Mason University completing my degree in Russian and Eurasian Studies. I spent a recent summer studying in St. Petersburg, Russia and plan to work as a translator. I would love to one day be able to meet and learn about some of the native Russian dog breeds which have never been brought to the United States. I look forward to meeting and caring for your pets.
Lizzie R., Midday Dog Walker
I was born in Bogota, Colombia but raised in Arlington my whole life. I have always had an affinity for animals. I currently have a cockatiel named Earnie and not too long ago we lost our other pet Marley who was a Holland Lop Rabbit. I went to school to be a cosmetologist. I am currently a licensed hairstylist and work with kids in the afternoon, but during the day I love spending my time with client pets. Recently married, I spend my time off hanging out with my husband, watching movies, and going to the beach! I really enjoy the different breeds and personalities of the animals I take care for and love being a part of Time for a Walk®.
Missy C., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
As a child, I grew up around many different kinds of animals – everything from dogs to snakes. I enjoy working for Time for a Walk® every day because it’s very peaceful, relaxing, and I love being active outdoors. I am also a people person and being a dog walker gives me the opportunity to meet many new friendly faces. I have become very close to the dogs I walk on my regular route and they let me know I am doing a good job by excitedly greeting me every day!
Sharon B., Midday Dog Walker
I was born and raised in Arlington and am happy to be back in the area after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in English Literature. I originally thought that I’d become a teacher or go on to law school, but I discovered my passion for nursing and over the past couple years, I have been fulfilling the prerequisites for a second-degree BSN program. I also love animals (and miss the dachshund and tabby I grew up with) and my position as a midday dog walker is a great way for me to still have wonderful animals in my life, while the flexible schedule lets me balance work and school. In my free time, I enjoy decorating, cooking, and hanging out with friends and family.
Donna S., Pet Sitter
Hi, I'm Donna, I grew up in Arlington and have always had animals in my life. At present it is just my big black lab Pitch, but I'm always looking for others to join him. I am looking forward to caring for whatever client pets may come my way. I know that leaving your pet in the care of another can be difficult, but I look forward to caring for/walking our clients' pets and giving them plenty of love and attention.
Kelly W., Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
I was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA and ended up attending James Madison University for a BA in Theatre and Dance and a minor in Nonprofit Business. I came to the Arlington area to explore my career as a theatre director. After being in the area for a few years now, I found a hole in my heart for animal love! I had a beagle for 15 years growing up and miss my Italian Greyhound/Mini Pincher mix greatly! Time for a Walk® was a great opportunity for me to stay involved with animals, give my time and love to the community, and have some flexibility with my career. I am excited to be a part of such an amazing company that gives so much to its clients and their furry loved ones.
Marjorie O., Substitute Walker & Pet Sitter
A large part of my youth was spent with animals of all kinds; turtles, pigeons, a gerbil, a rabbit, a chicken, a snake, a ferret and of course the family dog. I miss having a four legged critter around and would love to adopt a dog this time, but living in a condo and working irregular hours has kept me from doing so. That's why I was thrilled to learn Time for a Walk® needed more help in the winter of 2008 and started working as a sitter. It seems every week I have a new fun story about one of my furry clients and spending time with them always puts a smile on my face!
Melissa D., Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
I'm a native of the D.C. area and I now live in Alexandria. I am currently a student at George Mason University, majoring in Community Health with a concentration in Nutrition. I plan to continue onto graduate school to get a Master's degree in Nutrition. I grew up in a household with lab and terrier mixes and adopted cats. I love both dogs and cats and all other animals, too. Since my current rental doesn't allow pets, being a midday dog walker is a great way for me to get to hang out with pets and keep in practice for when I can have my own again. I always look forward to my "work" days of walking doggies!
Amanda C., Dog Walker
I was born and raised in the Northern Virginia area. I love animals, especially dogs. Growing up, I could not have a pet but always wanted one. My boyfriend and I currently share our home with two dogs, named McCoy & Jax. I am currently in graduate school studying for a Masters in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. My ultimate goal is to open an animal rescue but in the meantime I enjoy spending time with my dogs and our clients’ pets.
Leila S., Midday Dog Walker
Hi! My name is Leila and I am a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a B.S. in Biology. I am currently working on a Masters at George Mason and am enjoying the flexibility that Time for a Walk® offers, while allowing me to spend time with dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am an Arlington native who has taken every opportunity available to work with dogs ever since I was old enough to do it on my own. I've worked at vet clinics, a doggie daycare, pet sat for many friends, volunteered at animal shelters, and have enjoyed it immensely. I recently adopted a seven year old Toy Fox Terrier named Sophie who I am thrilled to have as a part of my life.
Darby W., Pet Sitter
Hi, my name is Darby and I predominantly work for TFAW in the evenings and weekends. Originally from Anchorage, AK, my family moved to NoVA in the 1990s and after some time in Georgia and Florida, I’ve settled into life in Arlington. While I miss Alaska terribly (especially the salmon dinners, amazing scenery and moose hanging out in the front yard), DC is a pretty amazing place to live too. Growing up, I always wanted a dog but given that my parents worked long hours and I was always playing sports after school, it just wasn’t practical. So, I did the next best thing and “borrowed” the neighbors’ dogs to play with. Gwen, a Golden Retriever and Cassidy, a Springer Spaniel, were particularly special to me. When not working my day job or trying to finish a PhD in Higher Education, I enjoy rowing, church activities, camping/fishing and refinishing furniture. My job with TFAW has given me the opportunity to spend time with some pretty terrific cats and dogs when I otherwise would not have had the chance.
Janice M., Substitute Walker
I'm a retired lawyer, and joined Time for a Walk® because I want occasional work doing something as different as possible from being a lawyer! I love dogs and want to be outdoors, so dog walking seems ideal. I have two big dogs, as you can see from my picture.
Mike S., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
I am an Arlington native having recently returned to the area to practice real estate sales. Growing up my family had several amazing cats and one fantastic dog. Not long ago we lost Captain Roger Sprocket (cat) and I've been filling this void with all of our clients' wonderful pets!
Kathryn P., Pet Sitter
I am originally from a small town in northern Connecticut. I came to the DC area to study business and hospitality at the George Washington University. Upon completing my degree I went abroad before returning to DC to work as a Meeting Planner at a large Washington, DC hotel. I now work for a non-profit in Arlington in the Corporate Events department. The 9-5 hours opened up a lot of time on my schedule, so I was looking for something fun to do. Having always loved animals, pet sitting and dog walking seemed like a natural second job. I have had dogs for my entire life; many different breeds from large sheepdogs to German Shepherds and I now also have two cats. I come from the school of thought that a pet is not just an animal, but also a member of the family, so I treat each one I meet with the utmost love and care! I look forward to spending time with your pets.
Mia M., Pet Sitter
I was born an animal lover. From playing with the neighborhood dogs and cats to finally getting my own dog in grade school, I've always loved spending time with animals. Over the years I've taken in or made home visits to pets for friends and family. An animal's happiness has a way of becoming one’s own happiness. I grew up in Northern Virginia feeding, washing, playing with, cleaning up after, petting, and befriending all types of household pets. I started at TFAW while earning my degree in Government and International Politics at George Mason. I love it!
Kristin W., Pet Sitter
Hi, I'm Kristin! I'm originally from PA, but I moved to the DC area in 2005 after graduating from Elon University. From September to June I teach middle school mathematics and coach high school cross country and track. However, July and August I have a lot of free time to rest, relax, and enjoy summer (especially since I finished my masters degree from UVA this past spring). I wanted to do something enjoyable and worthwhile with my time off and thus applied for a job with Time for a Walk® to be a pet sitter. I love dogs and the joy they bring to one's life - I had a golden retriever growing up and then a black lab shortly after college - so I thought being a pet sitter would be a great fit for me. I enjoy being able to take care of our clients' family members while they are out; giving them the attention, love, and care that they deserve. I look forward to meeting more furry friends throughout my time as a pet sitter!
Mona A., Midday Dog Walker
Hello! My name is Mona and I grew up in Arlington, Virginia. I have always had a deep affection of dogs and cats. To me, a house isn’t a home without an animal companion living in it. I have shared my life with many cats and dogs, all rescues, and currently have two dogs and two cats. My girl dog Lucy is three legged and doesn’t seem bothered by her handicap at all. Her companion Murphy is an Australian cattle dog/ shepherd mix who loves to herd and excels in agility. My cat Harry is a tabby and is 19 years old. Olivia, a 1 year old tonkinese kitty, is the baby of the family. I am an alumni of George Mason University and have recently moved back to Arlington from Atlanta to assist my elderly mother. It is my pleasure to spend my days with your animal companions!
John J., Midday Dog Walker
Right now I have one dog of my own, a Siberian Husky and I’m always glad to have her around. I had another dog, a Lab, that recently passed away whom I still miss terribly. One of the reasons I enjoy walking my Time for a Walk® dogs everyday is because deep inside I know my lab would like me to share my love for dogs with our clients’ dogs while their parents are at work. I truly enjoy walking dogs and meeting their parents. I also just love being outside each day, regardless of the weather.
In my spare time I like to relax in front of the T.V., watch movies or play video games, and I always enjoy going out with friends. I also do photography and video work as time permits.
Owen B., Midday Dog Walker
I have always had a passion for animals, especially dogs. I recently graduated from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland with a B.A. in biology, with the aim of obtaining a career in animal care, specifically in the field of veterinary medicine. I have lived in Arlington, Virginia since I was born and am proud to call it my home. My family and I have had two dogs in my lifetime: Christie, an Irish Setter, who passed when I was really little, and Taxi, our amazing Brittany who is currently 18 years old! She has defied the odds and is my inspiration. Time for a Walk® is an ideal place for me to work because interacting with dogs and other animals is a favorite pastime of mine.
Mary L., Midday Dog Walker
Lucky me! I like to think I have the best job in Arlington! Every day my furry friends greet me with wild excitement. Together we explore new territory, get great exercise, experience all kinds of weather, romp and play. In just a short time I’ve become deeply attached to all the pets in my charge.
I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and have always loved the company of dogs and cats in my home. My job at Time for a Walk® has gifted me with an extended family of beautiful, lovable pets. It also gives me the flexibility to work with my husband in our home-based commercial real estate company.
Teresa T., Pet Sitter
Originally from Chicago, I grew up and went to school in France where I studied law. I recently moved to Arlington to be closer to family. Growing up, I had all kinds of animals (a bird, a couple goldfish and a dog). My dog, Hills, was a true friend over the years. I’ve been eager to get another dog here but living in a condo makes it difficult, so instead I enjoy taking care of our clients’ pets.
Valerie S., Pet Sitter
Hello! I am a Northern Virginia native and have lived in Arlington for the past 15 years. Throughout my childhood, I have always had some kind of pet. As an adult, I wanted to share my love of animals with my kids. We have had countless pets from the small variety to the large; presently we have one dog and one cat. I have always enjoyed daily walks with my dog; unfortunately he has arthritis now and can’t get out as much anymore, so working for Time for a Walk® has enabled me to continue my dog walking. I love the different personalities of the pets I care for and it is very rewarding to give a dog a little exercise or a cat some needed attention when their owner is unable.
Lisa S., Pet Sitter
My passion for animals was formed very early in life through my relationship with my dog Daisy, a Maltese/Terrier mix, who was my constant companion from the time I was born until I moved to Washington to attend American University. I have volunteered with both local and national rescues throughout my adult life, and particularly enjoy working with shy and skittish animals. Besides working with animals, the other great passion in my life is travel. Because exotic countries are always beckoning, I know first-hand how heart-wrenching it is to travel without your pet, and how essential it is to find a pet sitter you can trust completely. As a pet sitter for Time for a Walk®, I am committed to providing all the love, affection, and care your little ones are accustomed to while you are home. I firmly believe that nothing is too much to ask when it comes to caring for those who reward us daily with unconditional love and companionship; they deserve nothing less!
Lori W., Dog Walker
I’ve lived in Arlington for all of my adult life, and still enjoy exploring the neighborhoods while I get to walk some really friendly dogs. I’m a long-time cat owner, although I grew up with a great little dog named Sport. In addition to our two cats, Penny and Poe, my daughter also currently has three fish and two hermit crabs. My whole family really likes to look after and be around living creatures. Getting some extra exercise and being around great dogs through Time for a Walk is good for my heart and my soul.
Donna R., Pet Sitter
I am originally from Florida and moved to the DC area several years ago. I graduated from the Univ. of Florida with a B.A. in Sociology and am pursuing my Master's at George Washington's School of Business. I have had all kinds of animals growing up including dogs, cats, fish, and birds. I love each and every type of animal and find their differences and similarities intriguing and fun!
I currently live in Arlington with my boyfriend and have one beagle named Linus, a cat named Nala, another cat named Cougar, and yes, I have two love birds! One day I would like to be a philanthropist who assists with animal welfare causes. For the time being, I can enjoy being around our clients’ dogs, cats, fish, and birds. I love them all!
David L., Midday Dog Walker
I am a recent graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a B.S. in Psychology. I recently moved back to the area and am hoping to attend graduate school. I have a deep respect and love for living things, especially animals, and have had a myriad of pets myself throughout my lifetime. I worked at Petco for two years during college and was able to get great hands-on experience with most of the animals that I have never had as pets before. I currently am maintaining a 40 gallon saltwater reef aquarium with soft corals and fish, which has been one of my most rewarding and beautiful hobbies. Cats and dogs hold a special place in my heart, however. I can’t wait to meet the special members of your family!
Joy B., Pet Sitter
I've heard many people say, "I'm a cat person, " or "I'm a dog person, " but I consider myself an "animal" person. I was so fortunate to grow up in a household where mom could never say "no" to a new pet. Thanks to her, I grew up with a menagerie of pets. At one point or another we had: dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, rats, mice, hamsters, fish, birds, and at one point a potbelly pig named Pumba (Lion King was popular at the time). Working for Time for a Walk® gives me the opportunity to spend time with all kinds of pets and it's always fun to meet new animals and learn their different personalities.
After relocating to Arlington from the Lake Tahoe area of Nevada several years ago and graduating from GMU, I now consider myself a DC area local and I have come to know and love it! I have a cat and kitten of my own and would like have to dogs as well, but not before finding a bigger home!
Jenny M., Midday Dog Walker
Currently residing in Northern Virginia, my passion for animals brought me to Time for a Walk®. Since childhood, I have taken care of and loved many pets at home including several dogs of varying breeds, fish, lizards, cats, hamsters and even tended to injured wild animals on our property (a rabbit and a squirrel). In essence, I love animals and wildlife. My background thus far includes high school in Northern Virginia, 2 years at Old Dominion University, travel to Europe with my choral group, and travel to South America with a family friend. My other passion is Art and I love doing graphic design on my computer. I’m fortunate in many ways and feel that Time for a Walk® is a wonderful company that allows me to continue my care of animals. At this time, I have a black Lab at home, Beans, my Dalmatian named Apache, two Maine Coon cats, King and Charlie, and my tree frog, Webb.
David F., Midday Dog Walker
Born in Washington, I’m a lifelong resident of the McLean/North Arlington area. I grew up with lots of cats and dogs. Our cats have always come from the Arlington Animal Shelter and our 95-pound German Shepherd, Sophie, lived to be twelve years old. I also rode horses for years at the old Shadybrook Stables off Old Dominion Road. After graduating high school, I worked as an animal shelter volunteer in Florida, and later in DC at the Washington Humane Society, so I’m comfortable walking dogs in both city and suburban areas. This is my fifth year working for the Washington Nationals as an usher during baseball season, so I’m used to being outside on my feet all day! I am also a long distance runner and a 3 time marathoner. My training runs cover the Washington, DC metro area so I am very familiar with the footpaths and dog walking scene here.
