our team
Meet a few of our team members!
All Time for a Walk employees take great pride in providing our clients' pets with first class care. Listed below is information about just a few of the dedicated professional dog walkers and pet sitters at your service.
Christina Keough, Owner
Christina is one of the DC area's few true natives, having been born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. A veteran sales and marketing professional with a passion for animals of all kinds, Christina and her husband, Jonathan, founded Time for a Walk in early 2007 after repeated frustration with the absence of quality, affordable pet care in Arlington, Virginia. Christina’s passion for animals is equally matched by her determination to provide pet owners in Arlington and select areas of Alexandria and McLean with excellent services at affordable prices.
Over the course of their respective childhoods, Christina and Jonathan have had the pleasure of welcoming a variety of pets into their homes including: dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, mice, hedgehogs, fish, rabbits, frogs, salamanders, turtles, snakes, parakeets, and even a duck and a monkey!
Christina currently resides in Arlington with her husband, three children, two dogs, and three cats.
Kelly S., General Manager of Operations
Having always been an animal lover, I went to school for Animal Science at Virginia Tech, where I adopted my dog Lexie and spent my free time volunteering at the VA/MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine walking dogs housed on campus. After college, Lexie and I spent a summer working on a horse farm before returning to Arlington. During internships with the Farm Animal Welfare Dept for the Humane Society of the US and Membership/Marketing for the Jane Goodall Institute, I became a mid-day walker for Time for a Walk and learned the ins-and-outs of pet-sitting. Lexie and I are now in the Time for a Walk office full-time, scheduling and managing care for your pets!
Erica P., Office Manager
I recently graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Biology. My house has been full of animals ever since I can remember. We currently have two Dachshunds with two very different personalities — Betty and Lucy — and a rambunctious mutt we rescued from a shelter in North Carolina — Lloyd. Currently I volunteer as a keeper aide at the Ape House in the National Zoo — it’s really great to spend time with the apes and to learn all their unique personalities! I recently spent some time travelling around Kenya for an ecology course, and that experience has definitely solidified my passion to become a Conservation Biologist. My future goals include enrolling in a graduate program, and to get some more travelling done in between!
Bethany M., On-call Office Manager
Growing up, I was known throughout the neighborhood for bringing home strays and rescuing animals – many of whom eventually became beloved members of our family. My passion for pets was not something that I had contemplated as a career option until I stumbled upon an available opportunity with Time for a Walk. I moved to Northern Virginia in July of 2007 upon completion of my undergraduate degree in order to pursue my Masters in Public Policy at George Mason University. While searching for something that would allow me to spend time with my yellow lab, Jack, during the day while taking night classes, I came across a Time for a Walk employment ad and knew that I had discovered a perfect opportunity! Jack and I have worked in the Time for a Walk office ever since, watching the company grow before our eyes and making many new friends along the way. Getting to know all of our clients and their pets has been an incredibly rewarding experience and I hope to continue building relationships as a Time for a Walk team member well into the future!
Sara M., On-call Office Manager
I joined the Time for a Walk team after returning to my hometown of Arlington, VA. I grew up in a very animal friendly household - we always had plenty of adopted animal companions living with us. While in college, I started working for a local humane society and realized that there’s nothing better than being around animals all day. It was there that I met and fell in love with my own dog. I decided to join Time for a Walk because I know how stressful it is to leave the animals you love, and I think mid-day dog walking and in-home pet-sitting is a fantastic way of alleviating the stress of both the animal and the humans that love them.
I enjoy spending my time with my dog, working with my dog rescue group to find loving homes for other dogs in need, caring for the wonderful animals that Time for a Walk gives me the opportunity to meet, and enjoying all that the D.C. area has to offer.
Meghan C., Administrative Assistant
I was born and raised in Arlington, VA and love it here. I have grown up with animals all my life. I can’t remember a time that I didn't have a dog in the house. Dogs are my favorite but I adore all animals. A year and a half ago I got a Pomeranian puppy. Her name is Elizabeth Taylor and she is the light of my life. I love working for Time for a Walk because I get to meet great dogs, be outside all day and get in some exercise.
Allison Z., Substitute Dog Walker
Hi! My name is Allison. Originally from a small town in the Midwest, I grew up loving all sorts of animals. Having a dog and various other pets it was a tough change for me when I moved to metropolitan DC to attend the George Washington University for my undergraduate studies in Criminal Justice and Psychology. After college I spent some time traveling, getting my EMT certification, and interning in Africa, it was then that I decided that I wanted to forego law and study medicine. I am now back in the DC area and completing a pre-med post-baccalaureate program at American University. When I am not studying, I love helping in the office and spending time with all of our adorable clients by substitute walking and pet sitting.
Will P., Pet Sitter
When I was a kid my family had a Portuguese Water Dog and since then we’ve been discussing getting another dog. I’ve recently returned to Northern Virginia after living in Japan for a year and a half and am now hoping to finally add another dog to the family roster! I love hanging out with dogs of all different breeds and sizes, and it’s been a lot of fun getting to know the personalities of many of our clients’ dogs.
Marie O., Substitute Dog Walker
My experience with dogs dates back to my early childhood. My parents always had at least one dog living with us. Our breeds included a Dalmatian, an Akita, Yellow Labs, a West Highland Terrier, a Golden Retriever, and a few mixed breeds. After I graduated from Radford University, I worked for Arlington Public Schools in Human Resources and lived in the City of Falls Church. Now I am a mother of three beautiful boys and reside in McLean. We recently added, Rocco, a Cavachon to our family. Rocco is a delight and brings my family great happiness.
I enjoy being a substitute dog walker and take pride in the service that I provide for each Time for a Walk client. I hope I get the chance to spend some time with your special pet soon!
Missy C., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
As a child, I grew up around many different kinds of animals – everything from dogs to snakes. I enjoy working for Time for a Walk every day because it’s very peaceful, relaxing, and I love being active outdoors. I am also a people person and being a dog walker gives me the opportunity to meet many new friendly faces. I have become very close to the dogs I walk on my regular route and they let me know I am doing a good job by excitedly greeting me every day!
Sharon B., Midday Dog Walker
I was born and raised in Arlington and am happy to be back in the area after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in English Literature. I originally thought that I’d become a teacher or go on to law school, but I discovered my passion for nursing and over the past couple years, I have been fulfilling the prerequisites for a second-degree BSN program. I also love animals (and miss the dachshund and tabby I grew up with) and my position as a midday dog walker is a great way for me to still have wonderful animals in my life, while the flexible schedule lets me balance work and school. In my free time, I enjoy decorating, cooking, and hanging out with friends and family.
Donna S., Pet Sitter
Hi, I'm Donna, I grew up in Arlington and have always had animals in my life. At present it is just my big black lab Pitch, but I'm always looking for others to join him. I am looking forward to caring for whatever client pets may come my way. I know that leaving your pet in the care of another can be difficult, but I look forward to caring for/walking our clients' pets and giving them plenty of love and attention.
Brandon H.., Midday Dog Walker
A native of Port Clinton Ohio, I was always around pets growing up. In 1999 my family home caught fire and my beloved Cocker Spaniel, Lafayette, was tragically lost. Moving to Arlington in 2001 with my partner of nine years, I realized how much I missed having a pet around and adopted two shelter cats, Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. Still longing for another dog, I finally felt ready to adopt one. On May 15th of 2009 she was born! Miss Daisy May, a long haired mini dachshund and the apple of my eye! I enjoy being with and caring for animals and find dog walking to be very rewarding!
Marjorie O., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
A large part of my youth was spent with animals of all kinds; turtles, pigeons, a gerbil, a rabbit, a chicken, a snake, a ferret and of course the family dog. I miss having a four legged critter around and would love to adopt a dog this time, but living in a condo and working irregular hours has kept me from doing so. That's why I was thrilled to learn Time for a Walk needed more help in the winter of 2008 and started working as a sitter. It seems every week I have a new fun story about one of my furry clients and spending time with them always puts a smile on my face!
Brisa O., Midday Dog Walker
Hi my name is Brisa! I am originally from Texas but I’m here attending grad school at Marymount University. I have always been a huge animal lover! There was never a stray that I didn’t bring home; my mom eventually gave up on telling me not to do so. I have had many pets (fish, turtles, birds, hamsters, bunnies, cats and dogs) and could not imagine my life without one. Time for a Walk was the perfect choice for me since it involved combining my love for animals and exercise. I had to leave my babies back at home with my family for now so I can’t wait to settle into a place where they can join me and have new additions as well, but for now the cuties I take care of will suffice!
Robyn S.,Midday Dog Walker
Originally from Vermont, and an alumnus of Lyndon State College, I moved to Arlington in June 2011 to pursue a career in graphic design. I discovered in my first two months of working a boring 9-5 job that it wasn't for me, and I wanted to have the flexibility to work from home as a designer, but I also wanted a job that kept me active, and that was fun! Time for a Walk provides the perfect opportunity for me since I terribly miss my family’s dogs back in Vermont (3 Pugs, 1 Chin/Yorkie mix & 1 Pomeranian), and it gives me the opportunity to explore the area, and meet some adorable cats and dogs. It also gives me the option to go back to school when I'm ready to get my Masters. When I'm not working for Time for a Walk, I like to explore DC and check out all the museums (I'm totally still a tourist!), find fun events around the area to meet new people, snuggle my kitten Dexter, cook, paint, and draw.
Natalie P., Pet Sitter
I have had pets my entire life and cannot imagine going even one day without my furry family members. I love getting to know so many wonderful pets and learning all their personality quirks! When I am not walking dogs, I'm working toward my Master's of Science at GMU. I hope to one day work for the National Park Service!
Darby W., Pet Sitter
Hi, my name is Darby and I predominantly work for TFAW in the evenings and weekends. Originally from Anchorage, AK, my family moved to NoVA in the 1990s and after some time in Georgia and Florida, I’ve settled into life in Arlington. While I miss Alaska terribly (especially the salmon dinners, amazing scenery and moose hanging out in the front yard), DC is a pretty amazing place to live too. Growing up, I always wanted a dog but given that my parents worked long hours and I was always playing sports after school, it just wasn’t practical. So, I did the next best thing and “borrowed” the neighbors’ dogs to play with. Gwen, a Golden Retriever and Cassidy, a Springer Spaniel, were particularly special to me. When not working my day job or trying to finish a PhD in Higher Education, I enjoy rowing, church activities, camping/fishing and refinishing furniture. My job with TFAW has given me the opportunity to spend time with some pretty terrific cats and dogs when I otherwise would not have had the chance.
Carolina R., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
I am a Northern Virginia native with college ties to Baltimore. I currently share my home with a 15 yr old pint-size kitty named Shortcake and two twin cats named Ben & Jerry who are about two quarts each. Having never owned a dog of my own, I thoroughly enjoy visiting friends with dogs. Aside from pets I enjoy reading and writing.
Liz S., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
As a diplomatic spouse, finding an occupation that I can carry with me around the world has been a real challenge. I come from a long line of animal lovers and we had adopted two rabbits previously. While stationed in Peru, we adopted our first dog, Wash, a Peruvian street dog from a shelter outside of Lima. I had a lot of time to take him to the park to train and socialize him, and he was quickly dubbed “Famoso Wash” by the locals!
After trying several careers, I realized that training dogs would be a rewarding and truly portable career. I’m currently enrolled in Animal Behavior College to become a dog trainer. I’ve also started volunteering for the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, and Wash will be helping me with their pet assisted therapy program. Time for a Walk is a wonderful fit for me. I love spending my day taking care of animals, getting to know their quirks, learning to understand their behaviors, and having time left over to study!
Mike S., Midday Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
I am an Arlington native having recently returned to the area to practice real estate sales. Growing up my family had several amazing cats and one fantastic dog. Not long ago we lost Captain Roger Sprocket (cat) and I've been filling this void with all of our clients' wonderful pets!
Lisa R., Substitute Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
Hi! My name is Lisa. Originally from Connecticut, I studied Nursing at the University of Connecticut and am currently employed as a Registered Nurse in DC. I love animals and grew up with my big black lab Duke. Walking our adorable furry friends provides me with an entertaining and cheerful escape from my everyday work. I enjoy meeting and spending time with the animals & getting to know their unique personalities. In my free time I enjoy cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Mia M., Substitute Dog Walker
I was born an animal lover. From playing with the neighborhood dogs and cats to finally getting my own dog in grade school, I've always loved spending time with animals. Over the years I've taken in or made home visits to pets for friends and family. An animal's happiness has a way of becoming one’s own happiness. I grew up in Northern Virginia feeding, washing, playing with, cleaning up after, petting, and befriending all types of household pets. I started at TFAW while earning my degree in Government and International Politics at George Mason. I love it!
Kristin W., Pet Sitter
Hi, I'm Kristin! I'm originally from PA, but I moved to the DC area in 2005 after graduating from Elon University. From September to June I teach middle school mathematics and coach high school cross country and track. However, July and August I have a lot of free time to rest, relax, and enjoy summer (especially since I finished my masters degree from UVA this past spring). I wanted to do something enjoyable and worthwhile with my time off and thus applied for a job with Time for a Walk to be a pet sitter. I love dogs and the joy they bring to one's life - I had a golden retriever growing up and then a black lab shortly after college - so I thought being a pet sitter would be a great fit for me. I enjoy being able to take care of our clients' family members while they are out; giving them the attention, love, and care that they deserve. I look forward to meeting more furry friends throughout my time as a pet sitter!
Brendan S., Midday Dog Walker
I was born and raised in Arlington and recently returned after living in Boston for a few years. I grew up with 2 dogs and a cat and would pet-sit frequently for neighbors and friends. Currently, I have 2 dogs (a beagle and a sheltie). My love of pets and the outdoors makes this the perfect job for me!
John J., Midday Dog Walker
Right now I have one dog of my own, a Siberian Husky and I’m always glad to have her around. I had another dog, a Lab, that recently passed away whom I still miss terribly. One of the reasons I enjoy walking my Time for a Walk dogs everyday is because deep inside I know my lab would like me to share my love for dogs with our clients’ dogs while their parents are at work. I truly enjoy walking dogs and meeting their parents. I also just love being outside each day, regardless of the weather.
In my spare time I like to relax in front of the T.V., watch movies or play video games, and I always enjoy going out with friends. I also do photography and video work as time permits.
Peter M., Midday Dog Walker
Having spent a large portion of my childhood in rural Wisconsin I have had the good fortune to have grown up with many pets including cats, dogs, horses, geese, chickens, and even a llama! I have a great affinity for animals as well as the outdoors and find that dog walking brings me great joy and satisfaction.
Mary L., Midday Dog Walker
Lucky me! I like to think I have the best job in Arlington! Every day my furry friends greet me with wild excitement. Together we explore new territory, get great exercise, experience all kinds of weather, romp and play. In just a short time I’ve become deeply attached to all the pets in my charge.
I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and have always loved the company of dogs and cats in my home. My job at Time for a Walk has gifted me with an extended family of beautiful, lovable pets. It also gives me the flexibility to work with my husband in our home-based commercial real estate company.
Lizzy M., Midday Dog Walker
I am originally from Michigan and a proud alumna of Gallaudet University. Ever since I was young, I have always had an innate love of dogs. I have grown up with many kinds of dogs of all sizes and temperaments, from Saint Bernards to Pit Bulls to Shih Tzus. I volunteered at the animal shelter in Michigan and it gave me a wonderful experience of working with the dogs and staff. My boyfriend and I rescued a stray, emaciated and neglected Pit Bull/Shar Pei mix from our alley in Washington, DC. He has been our loyal, adorable and affectionate furry family member! Both volunteering at the animal shelter and our Pit Bull/Shar Pei mix made me realize that I want to work closely with animals. I look forward to getting to know your furry family members and providing them with the exercise and attention they deserve at Time For A Walk!
Danielle H., Midday Dog Walker
As a native of the great Pacific Northwest, I grew up in Western Washington and attended the University of Montana for my undergraduate degree in Sociology/Criminology. Pursuit of a graduate degree in Forensic Psychology at Marymount University brought me out East for the first time in my life. So far, Arlington is great! Dogs have been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. Digby, my Border-Collie-cross little brother, is back home in Spokane, WA so I enjoy getting to spend time with other people's dogs!
Summer D., Pet Sitter
Hi, my name is Summer and I have always been a pet lover! Growing up, my family always had a dog or two around. We were known for taking in strays, who seemed to continually show up at our doorstep. I’ve had a lot of experience taking care of dogs and cats and even a couple of raccoons at one point.
Originally from Ohio, I needed a change after graduating from college. I moved to DC for an internship and have been here for the last couple of years. Unfortunately I do not have a dog in my apartment so Time for a Walk is the perfect way for me to enjoy pets every day. I look forward to walking your pet!
Andy C., Midday Dog Walker
I was raised in a household full of many sundry dogs and cats and have lived in the DC area for most of my life. Currently, I am the co-owner and operator of a graphic design studio located in Arlington. Being a Time for A Walk associate affords me the opportunity to get out of the stuffy office for a few hours a day and commune with nature while entertaining some canine chums. One hopes the dogs' owners are also entertained by the notoriously bad spellings in my end-of-visit notes. I get as much enjoyment out of short leisurely strolls with nose-to-the-ground dogs as I do longer speed walks with dogs who are more curious about what's up ahead. My hobbies include year-round running in all varieties of weather, and playing music. I am also the owner of a large cat named Blackie.
Carrie L., Midday Dog Walker
I grew up in the Midwest with a succession of wonderful and beloved family cats, and have always enjoyed being around all sorts of animals. As I am a recent transplant to Northern Virginia, my work as a midday dog walker is a great way for me to get to know the area while enjoying several hours of fulfilling canine companionship each day — I truly look forward to my visits and am always getting a kick out of the individual quirks and personalities of each pet in my care. The schedule works very well for me too as I’m a practicing studio artist and printmaker and I teach drawing and painting on weekends.
David H., Midday Dog Walker
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia with my first cat Harley before moving to Centreville, Virginia at age 6. There we added Andy, a Boston Terrier, and our new Tabby, Dottie to the family. I completed high school in McLean and currently reside in Falls Church. As of last year my family adopted a new cat, Leala. In 2003 I worked with Landmine Survivors Network and Habitat for Humanity in El Salvador and more recently I was a member of Americorps NCCC. I love animals of all types and also I enjoy playing music, hiking, bouldering and cooking.
Valerie S., Midday Dog Walker
Hello! I am a Northern Virginia native and have lived in Arlington for the past 15 years. Throughout my childhood, I have always had some kind of pet. As an adult, I wanted to share my love of animals with my kids. We have had countless pets from the small variety to the large; presently we have one dog and one cat. I have always enjoyed daily walks with my dog; unfortunately he has arthritis now and can’t get out as much anymore, so working for Time for a Walk has enabled me to continue my dog walking. I love the different personalities of the pets I care for and it is very rewarding to give a dog a little exercise or a cat some needed attention when their owner is unable.
Jenna G., Midday Dog Walker
I was born and raised in Plymouth, MA and came to VA with a close friend of mine to start anew and to broaden my horizons. I have had a love for animals from as far back as I can remember and for a few months now I have been taking online classes to become a vet technician. I am so thankful I got the job as a midday dog walker. Now while I’m studying to pursue my dreams, I get to spend my days with all different breeds of dogs, and get to know my way around VA. I also have 3 dogs back home in MA living with my mom. Two Golden Retrievers and one miniature pincher, I miss them so much. But I recently just adopted a Chihuahua and Italian Greyhound mix from Arlington Animal Shelter. Can never have enough pets!
